Music Mindfulness for Kids: Developing mindfulness, focus, and concentration through music and arts
In the age of computer games, iPhones, and the internet, children’s ability to concentrate and focus can easily become fragmented and distracted. This can affect their ability to learn effectively and thrive, not just musically but also at school and at home. Drawing upon music, the arts, imagination, movement, and artistic games, this 6-week class teaches basic mindfulness skills for children ages 7-12 to observe and relax the mind, deal with distractions and let go of mental clutter, increase concentration and thoughtfulness, and sharpen one’s focus. Children will earn rewards for completing short, daily homework assignments as well as for completing the whole 6 week class. Practicing mindfulness skills daily can help children to practice their instruments more efficiently and for longer periods of time, learn more challenging pieces of music, play better in tune, as well as increase success in other areas of life.
In order to meet, the class must have at least six registrants.
Schedule: 11:30 - 12:20 am
Sept 7: There will be an informational session for parents.
Six classes running from Sept 14 - Nov 2.
