Private Lesson Registration is now open. We plan to continue online lessons via Zoom through the fall 2020 semester. Students will receive 14 lessons per semester. If you still need to register, go HERE.
Programming and Protocol
We are offering hybrid Violin/Cello Group Classes, Small String Orchestras, Chamber Groups, and Theory Classes. Groups will meet on alternate weekends (A/B Schedule) outdoors under the Biddle Building Portico or Baldwin Auditorium Tent.
ISO/CSO/YS students may participate in either a Small String Orchestra OR a Chamber Group. This is to minimize interaction, but maximize student participation opportunities. All ISO/CSO/YS students may participate in Hybrid or online-only Theory Classes.
Baldwin Tent: Can safely hold 28 people with 6 feet apart. We will cap ensembles at 18 students, 1 teacher, and 1 parent volunteer (20 people) to stay well under the maximum capacity. Students rehearsing in the Baldwin Tent should be dropped off and picked up in the Baldwin Circle drive. Please do not block traffic on Markham when dropping off.
Biddle Portico: We will have 3 small chamber groups with 4-5 students with 1 instructor, with each group on different side of the building under the awning. Students rehearsing under the Biddle Portico should be dropped off and picked up in front of the building.
A/B schedules for outdoor ensemble and classes will begin Saturday, September 19th and end Saturday, November 21.
Deadline for all ensemble, class registrations, scholarships, and audition materials is extended to Sunday, September 6 @11:59pm. Register HERE.
There will be no refunds if classes move online due to illness or inclement weather. If requested in March, refunds from Spring 2020 will be automatically applied to Fall 2020 ensemble/class fees.

Audition video submission is required for all students wishing to move up ensembles or participate in a chamber group. Students will submit one scale and one solo piece to be placed in an ensemble OR chamber group. Memorization of selected scale and piece is preferred but not required.
Students should confirm selections with their teacher before submitting. Students preparing lengthy solo pieces need only record a maximum of 5 minutes of the piece. Students with shorter pieces should record the entire piece. Students should follow the ensemble guidelines for piece selection listed HERE.
There is no sight reading component for Fall 2020 auditions.
Recordings should be made between July 1, 2020 – September 6, 2020. Audition results will be emailed approximately 1 week after the 9/6 deadline.
Extended Audition Deadline: Sunday, September 6 @11:59pm
Student ensemble placement is ensured for future participation if any student does not participate during COVID restrictions.
There are 2 ways to submit an audition video:
- Upload a scale and solo piece to YouTube and send the video link(s) to: firstname.lastname@example.org. We recommend you make the video “unlisted” so that it is not public. Include the student’s full name and the piece title in the email.
- Upload the scale and solo piece to your own Google Drive Folder and share the folder with email@example.com with “edit access”. Include the student’s full name and the piece title in the Google Drive folder.
Note: Do not delete the video for 1 month so that we can have access to it. If you delete the video from your Google Drive, we will not be able to view it. You may receive multiple emails from teachers’ emails requesting permission to view the video.
We will conduct our usual orchestra, leadership, and group class auditions again when it is safe to resume regular rehearsals. During these unprecedented times, we realize you likely have additional questions. Please send those to firstname.lastname@example.org.
