Teacher of Violin, Viola, Chamber Music, and Conductor of Violin Choir II

Dr. Julia Reeves is a violinist and string educator currently based in central North Carolina. She holds a BM from Ohio University, where she studied with Marjorie Bagley and Dr. Stephen Miahky; an MM from University of Minnesota, where she studied with Sally O’Reilly; and a DMA and Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Music Education from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. At UNC-Greensboro, Julia served as Program Coordinator for the Peck Alumni Leadership Program, a community partnership and lesson program for underserved students in the area. Prior to moving to North Carolina, Julia was on the violin faculty at MacPhail Center for Music, a large non-profit music school in Minneapolis. Julia is registered to teach Suzuki Violin Books 1-4. Other teaching appointments include violin/viola instructor at Campbell University, the Music Academy of North Carolina, the St. Paul Academy in St. Paul, MN, and the Athens Community Music School in Athens, OH.

In addition to teaching, Julia currently performs with the Greensboro Symphony. She also played regularly with the Quad Cities Symphony, the Huntington Symphony, and the Ohio Valley Symphony. In 2013, she was selected to perform Bach’s St. Matthew Passion under the baton of Helmuth Rilling as a member of the Junger Stuttgarter Bach Ensemble, performing throughout Germany and Chile.
