July 9, 2020 Update
(July 27 Update- No changes to the information below)
We are currently waiting for direction from Duke University about safe protocols for operating in Fall 2020.
We know we will not be able to safely schedule our full orchestras, rehearsing indoors in close proximity this fall.
We are hoping to be able to have small, socially-distanced ensemble rehearsals with live-stream or recorded performances as well as online Theory classes. Regular hand washing/hand sanitizing and mask requirements for students, teachers, and parents are likely.
Our fees for ensembles will likely change to accommodate this.
Auditions: For any small ensembles we are able to have, auditions will maintain the same requirements outlined on the ensemble webpages (i.e. scale, solo piece, sight reading). Auditions will be video submissions or scheduled Zoom auditions and not in-person for Fall 2020.
We plan to continue with online lessons via Zoom through the fall. Students will still receive 14 lessons per semester. We hope to be able to add occasional socially distanced, in-person lessons when safe and appropriate, and are working on safe ways to have solo recitals at the end of the semester.
Our fees for lessons will likely not change for private lessons.
