Welcome to the 26/27 Youth Symphony
Rehearsals start, Saturday, Sept. 12th @10:30am - 12:30pm in Bone Hall in the Biddle Music Building. Please arrive 5-10 minutes early to unpack and get tuned.
You will receive info emails periodically from myself and our YS lead parent volunteer Ellen Chang (cced) this year from this email address: dussyouthsymphony@gmail.com.
Perhaps most importantly, you need to report any expected absences and illness by emailing Mrs. Chang at this email address. More than 3 missed rehearsals per concert cycle, particularly ones that are not communicated, will result in a seating change. We appreciate those who have already emailed about upcoming important conflicts.
______________
This fall we have some new and exciting opportunities with our Composer in Residence Tyler Jordan, including Crash Course Theory, a 3 week theory class for high schoolers in CSO and YS starting next Saturday, and the New Music Ensemble, which takes place in November and performs in the Chamber Music Concert on Dec. 5th.
The repertoire (with YouTube links) for the first concert cycle includes:
- Concerto Alla Rustica in G major by Vivaldi
- Lullaby for Strings by Gershwin
- The Holberg Suite by Grieg
Please continue listening to recordings of these pieces in the upcoming weeks. The parts will be posted on the YS News blog next week in case you misplace your folder. Like last year, we will add winds, brass, and percussion back to the orchestra for the spring concerts.
You can find the music and seating chart for tomorrow on Google Drive HERE. Note that seating may shift in the upcoming weeks.
Congratulations on your hard work and commitment to your instrument to be in the Youth Symphony!
