Dr. Molly Hines is a professional violinist who maintains a dynamic teaching and performing career. Molly is passionate in sharing the joy of music through teaching. Being certified in both Suzuki and Paul Rolland methods, she enjoys working with students of all ages and levels.

Molly has given masterclasses for students in Popayán, Colombia as well as throughout North Carolina. In addition to teaching at DUSS, Molly currently serves as Adjunct Professor at Meredith College and is faculty at the Community Music School of Raleigh.

As an active performer, she has played internationally as well as throughout the United States. Molly performed as soloist and chamber musician in the International Music Festival of Popayán, Colombia. She collaborated with concert pianist Domonique Launey in Les Issards, France as well. In 2021, Molly performed the Beethoven Violin Concerto with the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra. She performs regularly in the concert series Music at First and Kenan Chapel Concert Series in Wilmington, NC. Molly has been featured as a guest artist at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, University of North Texas, Transylvania University, Baylor University, and the Wilson Center in Wilmington (NC). Additionally, she performed with the Ursino String Quartet and won the chamber division of the Semper Pro Musica Competition. The quartet then performed at Carnegie Hall in 2017. 

Molly is an avid orchestral violinist. She currently performs with the North Carolina Symphony, the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle, the Carolina Philharmonic, and the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra. Previous orchestral engagements include contracts with the Greensboro Symphony, Fayetteville Symphony, Plano Symphony, Richardson Symphony, and Irving Symphony.

Molly completed her doctorate in Violin Performance at the University of North Texas studying with Julia Bushkova, her Master’s degree at Baylor University with Bruce Berg, and her Bachelor’s degree at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with Fábian López.

In her free time, Molly loves hiking, traveling, reading, and spending time with friends, family, and furry friends.
