Danse Bacchanale - Saint-Saëns Samson and Delilah (French: Samson et Dalila), Op. 47, is a grand opera in three acts and four scenes by Camille Saint-Saëns to a French libretto by Ferdinand Lemaire. March 4th Concert Weekend Information

This is our concert weekend, and our next rehearsal will be this Saturday, March 3rd, 2018. All musicians please arrive at 10.00am, so you have enough time to unpack and tune. Our Saturday rehearsal time is as always 10:15 am-12:15 pm in Bone Hall.  Our dress rehearsal will take place on Sunday, March 4th from 1.45pm until 3pm at Baldwin Auditorium. Domenico Carlo Maria Dragonetti (7 April 1763 – 16 April 1846) was an Italian double bass virtuoso and composer with a 3 string double bass. Overture to Candide, by Leonard Bernstein

Strings to follow Candide is an operetta with music composed by Leonard Bernstein, based on the 1759 novella of the same name by Voltaire.[1] The operetta was first performed in 1956 with a libretto by Lillian Hellman; but since 1974 it has been generally performed with a book by Hugh Wheeler which is more faithful to Voltaire's novel. Our next rehearsal will be this Saturday, October 28th. Ms Shelley Livingston is out of town and we are very fortunate to have Professor Tõnu Kalam fill in for her at this weeks rehearsal. Prof. Kalam was born of Estonian parents and has lived in the United States since the age of two. The application for the Concerto Competition is due on Sept. 30th. All Youth Symphony students are eligible, that includes all Strings, Winds, Brass and Percussion.
